Draft day is officially here! To celebrate, I’m dropping my 3rd and final mock ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft tonight, live on WOLF Sports Network. Let’s dive in:
One thing I’m projecting: trades, trades, and more trades. I see multiple teams being aggressive in moving up the board, namely the Colts, Eagles, Jaguars, and Rams. Each of these clubs feels on the brink of contention, whether that be in their division or beyond, and a great draft could very well propel them up power rankings and lists leaguewide. The Vikings also trade up for JJ McCarthy, jumping the Giants who have been reported to have significant interest in the Michigan signal caller.
The Chargers, meanwhile, take advantage of the QB desperation and slide down the board to select much needed studs in JC Latham and Brian Thomas Jr. at 11 and 23. Other teams benefitting in a trade down are the Broncos and Raiders, who sure up their trenches and gather assets to target a QB in a 2nd round trade-up.
In somewhat of a shock, I have Michael Penix Jr. falling to the 2nd round. Why? I just don’t project him as a 1st round talent, especially considering his age and injury history. If a QB prospect the calibur of Will Levis fell to the 2nd round last season, I can’t see Penix or Bo Nix in the top 32 picks tonight.
