Your UWG women’s basketball team took home a huge win on February 8th, against Queens Royals with a score of 56-49.

The Wolves (9-14) were outscored 24-30 by the Royals (8-15) at the end of the 2nd quarter. In the third quarter, the Wolves were able to claw back and make it a one possession game at 39-40 as the quarter came to a close.

It was clear that Queens had been worn out by the fourth quarter as they shot 0-12, with their nine points coming from only free throws. The Royals were able to shoot 9-10 from the line, but that was not enough to tie the game, with the Wolves scoring 17 points to close the game.

Jordyn Weaver (00) led the Royals in points with 17, as Anna Barreto (10) scored an additional 11 to go along with 5 rebounds.

Leading the Wolves was Destiny Jones (12) who went 6-8 from the field contributing 12 points and adding 9 rebounds. Sydne Tolbert added 10 points while also leading the team in assists with 3. What helped the Wolves was their bench adding 22 points out of the teams 56, while Queen’s bench only scored 2.

This was a big win for the Wolves as they had lost their previous game to Lipscomb (14-8)  75-92. For Queens, they’ll be heading back home to Charlotte, North Carolina to go against Eastern Kentucky (16-9).

Your Wolves will have 4 days to rest before going against Austin Peay (10-13) in Carrollton GA, at The Coliseum on Wednesday February 12th at 7:00 PM.
