Man… what a way to start the season. If you missed it, the Eagles just beat the Cowboys 24–20 in Philly, and the game had everything: fights, weather delays, MVP moves, and a whole lot of drama.
The Chaos Starts Early
Literally six seconds into the game, defensive tackle Jalen Carter got ejected for spitting on Dak Prescott. Yup… spitting. That set the tone: this wasn’t gonna be your typical season opener.
Hurts and Barkley Do Their Thing
After the madness, Jalen Hurts settled in and showed why he’s still HIM. Two rushing touchdowns and barely missed a throw all night. He even tossed the ball into the stands like he was playing in the NBA Finals (shoutout MJ being in the building).
And Saquon Barkley—the new guy in green—fit right in. He punched in a rushing TD and gave the offense that extra spark. It felt weird but awesome seeing him do damage in an Eagles uniform.
Lightning Strikes… Literally
Right when things were heating up, the game got paused for over an hour because of lightning. Classic Philly weather. After the delay, both offenses cooled off, and it turned into a defensive grind.
Defense Wins the Night
The Eagles’ D clamped up when it mattered most. The Cowboys had a shot late, but a deep ball to CeeDee Lamb fell incomplete, and that was all she wrote. Philly’s defense bent but never broke, and that 58-yard Jake Elliott field goal ended up being the difference.
My Takeaway
The Birds didn’t play perfect football, between Carter’s ejection, some sloppy penalties, and a few missed chances, but man, they showed grit. A win over Dallas always feels sweet, and doing it in front of a banne -raising home crowd just made it better.
If this is how the season starts, I can’t wait to see what’s next.
