The 2025 NFL draft kicked off with a huge bang and a major shocker with Shedeur Sanders not going in the first round. Here we’ll look at the best players available going into the second and third round of the 2025 NFL draft.
- Shedeur Sanders – Sanders not going in the first round of the draft was a shocker to many. Some have said it’s because he is too cocky, others have said it’s because he is a mediocre quarterback at best. Regardless of your thoughts, he managed to break just about every record at Colorado, and with sliding out of the first round, this will add fuel to his fire to show why he should have been a first round pick. I can see a team like Cleveland taking him, or possibly Jets.
- Will Johnson – Injuries. It’s part of the game and what played a major factor in Johnson not going in night one. But he is arguably one of the best corners in this draft. In just 6 games with Michigan in the 2024 season, Johnson had 12 solo tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 interceptions. Could the Houston Texans take him to pair with Derek Stingley JR?
- TreVeyon Henderson – Henderson had a great season in his final year at Ohio State, unfortunately teams don’t like to pay running backs big money, (though this season Saquan Barkley put the running back market on his back) causing a few backs to slide in this year’s draft. I believe a team like the Bears could benefit from this. I know they have Swift, but Henderson is used to being in a two headed monster back system, so this wouldn’t be much of a change for him.
- Mike Green – Mike Green is an elite defensive end. I believe one of the reasons he slid in the draft is because of the competition play. Green is praised for his explosive first step, bend around the edge, and ability to disrupt the quarterback. He also possesses a strong motor and relentlessness in his pursuit, which are valuable attributes for an NFL pass rusher. Unfortunately for Green, he has two sexual assault allegations pending against him, which could cause him to drop even more. The Patriots could benefit from his edge presence.
- Cam Skattebo – Another running back who could have gone in the first round, Skattebo should just how much he matters in Arizona State’s playoff game against Texas. He’s a tough old school runner and would definitely be a key 3rd down back for any team he plays for.
Honorable Mention
- Malachi Moore – Moore has polished his game at Alabama for the past 5 years. Though he’s dealt with his fair share of injuries over the years, I believe learning under Coach Saban and his ability to adapt in defensive schemes can give him a huge edge. Teams like Minnesota, Atlanta, and Miami could all benefit from having a safety with Moore’s ability.
