PG signs a 4 year deal with the sixers. What does this mean for the eastern conference?

On July 1, 2024, The former Fresno State Bulldog Paul George agreed to sign a 4-year Max Contract with the Philadelphia 76ers that was worth nearly $212M.  In my opinion, this gives the Sixers a chance at contending for an eastern conference title. The Sixers were still able to keep a dangerous offensive threat in Tyrese Maxey and Former MVP Joel Embiid. With Paul George being a two-way player, this still allows for Maxey to still be effective on the offensive side of the ball. Along with that, the Sixers become a slightly better defensive team as you still have Embiid as a solid rim protector.

Now, what about the other teams in the east? Yes, sixers add PG but you have to think about who they have to watch out for. Modestly speaking, the Bucks will be a team the Sixers have to lookout for. Damian Lillard is an amazing offensive player alongside Giannis. If the Bucks stay healthy, I can see them being better than last year. This offseason, the Knicks added Mikal Bridges, who is also a great two-way player. The former Villanova Trio of Bridges, Brunson and DiVincenzo is reunited in New York City and I believe the Knicks have a chance to do great things this year despite them losing to Indiana in the Eastern Semis last year. And of course, Boston. The chemistry that they have is unmatched. Coming off of a 2024 NBA title and still having the majority of the pieces from last year, we cannot deny their potential to reach that place again. Not to mention, Derrick White and Jayson Tatum both are coming off a Gold medal olympic run in Paris this past summer.

The matchups in the east will be something to look forward to in the 2024-25 season. As PG joins the east, we will see come playoff time how teams will match up against each other.
