The West Georgia Wolves (2-6) men’s basketball team won their home ASUN (Atlantic Sun) Conference game on Saturday against the North Florida Ospreys (3-5) 92-72.
The game started at 2:00 PM and once tip off started, the Wolves never stopped applying pressure, outscoring their opponent 43-27 in the first half. In the second half, the Ospreys put up more of a fight, but were still outscored 49-45. While North Florida was never able to take a lead at any point during the game, they were led by Jasai Miles (0) in points with 18 along with 5 rebounds. The Ospreys had an off shooting day as they went 43% from the field.
The Wolves were led by Kolten Griffin (11) who scored 24 points along with 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Shelton Dryden-Williams (5) who was second on the team in points with 17 also led the team in rebounds with 8, and went a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line. UWG was also able to add 12 points on the board from bench players alone. They were able to go 54% shooting as a team in their first ASUN conference home win.
The Wolves will look to gain more momentum as they prepare to take on the Bears of Central Arkansas (1-7), a team dealing with multiple injuries, plus a fresh loss against Lipscomb (6-2) with a final score of 68-55. This game will be played in Conway, Arkansas on Wednesday, January 29th at 7:30 PM.
